Cook'n Recipe Organization Software Review

I was asked to review a software program called Cook'n Recipe Organizer and I did not expect it to be as great and user friendly as it is.  There are several great features that I wouldn't expect to be included but add to the experience.  When you launch the program you start off on the homepage where you can search for new recipes and there is a toolbar on the top where you can do all sorts of cool things that I will explain later.  When you find a recipe that you like you can import it right into your cookbook, no copying and pasting, no typing it in, and no printing the recipe just to misplace it or waste paper and ink.  Watch this video in order to get an idea of how it works:

If that video was a tease and you want to learn more about Cook'n then watch this longer, more in-depth video:

As you saw in the video you can:

  • Make a shopping list and sync it with your iPod, iPhone, and iPad so you can take it with you and not forget any ingredients.  Cook'n organizes the ingredients into different categories so it is easier to find everything you need when shopping.  You can also print the shopping list if you want to.
  • Cook'n analyzes the nutritional value of the recipe so you can make an informed decision.
  • Create a menu by just dragging and dropping recipes and you can duplicate menus if you plan to have the same meals on different weeks or months.
  • You can easily back up the database so you don't have to worry about losing any of your family recipes and you can get rid of scraps of paper and piles of cookbooks you have accumulated over the years.
  • You can pick different cute themes for all of your cookbooks.
  • If you have to adjust the amount of servings Cook'n does the math for you, no more headaches or mistakes when try to adjust the servings.
  • You can print your cookbooks and/or recipes and choose the size.
  • You can export your recipes and cookbooks to share with other Cook'n users if you want to do so.
  • You can purchases cookbooks right from their website for dramatically less than you would pay elsewhere.
Over 3 million copies have been sold so 3 million people can't be wrong.
